We jointly own, with Peterborough Mountaineering Club, a cottage above Bethesda which serves as an excellent base for our weekend meets in Snowdonia.
The derelict cottage purchased in 1958 was a typical Welsh miner's cottage with one large main room and one small room with a loft above. At some point during its life it had a lean-too extension built onto the rear which housed two further small rooms. The main room, still the same size, has been turned into a very effective living room. The loft has been removed from above the small room and three tier bunks have been fitted. One of the lean-to rooms has been converted into a fully fitted kitchen whilst the other has again been fitted with bunks and turned into another small bedroom fitted with bunks.
Our club meets at the cottage on the first weekend of the month (excluding bank holiday weekends - see Events page for dates). Guests are welcome to come along with a club member. Current hut fees for guests are £10 per night for adults and £5 per night for children. Camping is also available.
